  • Year 5 Mini Saga Competition

    What a Saga!

Writing a mini-saga might seem daunting, trying to translate your idea into a whole story that fits into just 100 words, but it can be done! Today we were treated to the 10, Year 5 finalists, who proved they could jam-pack a suspenseful adventure into limited wordage.

Each finalist considered authorial technique and their audience carefully. We were astounded by some of their techniques: sibilance, metaphors, twists, hooks, onomatopoeia, specific details, rhetorical questions, and powerful nouns. The finalists bravely read their sagas in front of Year 5 and were judged by a panel of 4 members of staff.

    Well done Year 5!

*Please note the above review has been written in 100 words – it is REALLY hard to do!
