Writing a mini-saga may seem difficult, but the Year 5 finalists showed it’s possible to create an engaging story in just 100 words. The finalists skillfully used authorial techniques like sibilance, metaphors, twists, hooks, and onomatopoeia. They paid attention to their audience and incorporated specific details, rhetorical questions, and powerful nouns. Each finalist bravely read their saga in front of their Year 5 classmates, and a panel of four staff members judged the entries.
